  • How do I know if my pet qualifies for the Maintenance Visit instead of a New Patient Visit?

The Maintenance visit is for pets who have been seen at Pearly Whites for Pets within the last 6 months. If it has been longer than that since your pet's last visit, a New Patient Visit would be the right starting point. This helps make sure the visit is approached with the right amount of time and preparation for where your pet is right now with their oral care.

  • Does my pet need to see the same practitioner each time for the Maintenance Visit?

Same-practitioner booking is available and we do encourage it, especially for pets who took some time to warm up during their first visit. Seeing a familiar face can make a real difference in how comfortable your pet feels. That said, every practitioner works from the same detailed visit notes, so whoever sees your pet will have a clear picture of their history, temperament, and what has worked well in the past.
  • Is the process at a returning visit any different from what happened at the first appointment?

The process is the same all-natural teeth cleaning your pet received on their first visit. We use natural products and finish with a professional polisher. The visit takes place in an open, visible environment. Because your pet has been through it before, the visit often goes more smoothly. We still work at your pet's pace and take our time, the same way we always do.

  • Why does keeping a regular pet oral care schedule matter between vet visits?

Plaque and tartar build up gradually over time. Staying on a consistent schedule, like a twice yearly pet teeth cleaning routine, helps prevent that buildup from reaching a point where it becomes harder to manage. Regular oral care support between veterinary checkups is not a replacement for veterinary care, but it is a practical way to keep your pet's mouth in better shape on an ongoing basis. Every pet is different, and some may benefit from more frequent intervals depending on their needs.
  • Can cats come in for the Maintenance Visit, or is it only for dogs?

The Maintenance Visit is available for both dogs and cats. The all-natural teeth cleaning approach works for both, and we adjust how we work based on the individual animal in front of us. Cats often have different temperaments and tolerances than dogs, and we take that into account when working through the visit.

  • What if my pet had a difficult time during their first visit? Is a returning visit still a good idea?

It depends on the pet, and we would never push a visit that is not right for your animal. For many pets who were unsure the first time, a returning visit actually goes more smoothly because the environment and process are familiar. Our team takes note of any challenges from previous visits and adjusts accordingly.
